Product Description

The Juniper Networks SRX3K-NPC is a high-performance Network Processing Card (NPC) designed specifically for the SRX3000 Series Services Gateways, including the SRX3400, SRX3600, and SRX1400 platforms. As a core component of the SRX3000 architecture, the NPC is responsible for managing and accelerating network traffic between the I/O Cards (IOCs) and the Services Processing Cards (SPCs), ensuring efficient packet forwarding and high-performance security processing. It enables organizations to build scalable, secure, and highly available network infrastructures capable of handling demanding enterprise and service provider workloads.

The SRX3K-NPC receives inbound traffic from the installed I/O cards and intelligently distributes packets to the appropriate Services Processing Cards for advanced security inspection. After services such as firewall filtering, VPN encryption, NAT, intrusion prevention, and application processing are completed, the NPC forwards outbound traffic back to the appropriate interfaces for transmission. This architecture optimizes resource utilization and ensures consistent high-speed performance even during periods of heavy network activity.

Beyond traffic forwarding, the Network Processing Card performs advanced traffic management functions including packet buffering, queue management, Quality of Service (QoS), and protection against Denial-of-Service (DoS) and Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks. These capabilities help maintain network stability while protecting critical infrastructure from malicious traffic and network congestion.
